BCCK offers ‘Toss to Prosperity’ reunion dinner packages for Chinese New Year

KUCHING: Borneo Convention Centre Kuching ( BCCK) is all set to usher in this year’s Chinese New Year celebratio­ns with its ‘ Toss to Prosperity’ reunion dinner packages.

Starting Feb 14 until March 2, guests will be able to choose from three banquet options specially prepared by BCCK’s Chinese kitchen for this auspicious occasion.

There is the Grand Reunion Dinner set priced at RM988 per table, where guests can toss to a prosperous year ahead with the ‘ Prosperity Salmon Yee Sang’ followed by Braised Dried Scallops, Fish Maw and Crab Meat in Chicken Consomme, Wok-Fried Chicken Balls in Sweet Sauce with Broccoli, Deep-Fried Snapper with Red Date Sauce, Warm-Poached Marinated Prawns with Mixed Fruits, Braised Sea Cucumber, Flower Mushrooms and Fatt Choy with Green Vegetables, Braised Noodles with Bamboo Pith and Shredded Chicken with Vegetables, before ending with Cream Caramel for dessert.

Apart from that, guests can also opt for the Chinese New Year Dinner set which also features eight dishes of prosperity, happiness and abundance.

Priced at RM788 per table, this set consists of the ‘Prosperity Salmon Yee Sang’, Braised Crab Meat with Fish Lips in Chicken Consomme, Wok-Fried Chicken Balls in Sweet Sauce with Broccoli, Deep-Fried Fish Fillets with Red Date Sauce, Warm-Poached Marinated Prawns with Mixed Fruits, Braised EightTreas­ure Vegetables with Gingko Nut Lotus Seeds, Braised Noodles with Mushrooms and Shredded Chicken with Vegetables, and Chilled Longan with Red Dates.

These two banquet sets also come with Mandarin oranges as well as free flow of Chinese tea and cordial drinks.

On the other hand, guests who are looking for a more luxurious dinner can treat themselves to the ‘ Poon Choi’ set which is priced at RM1,288 and features five decadent dishes such as ‘Prosperity Healthy Yee Sang’ with Snow Pears, Salmon and Silver Fish, Braised Sea Asparagus, Dried Scallops, Fish Maws, Crab Meat in Chicken Consomme, ‘Prosperity Poon Choi’ with Mini Abalone, Roast Chicken, Roast Duck, Cuttlefish, Sea Cucumbers, Prawns, Mushrooms, Scallops, Fish Maws, Dried Oysters, Sea Asparagus, Chinese Cabbage, Fatt Choy ( black moss), Broccoli and Yam, Braised Noodles with Chicken Dumplings, and Cream of Coconut with Black Glutinous Rice and Mint Leaves.

Advanced booking is required for the ‘Poon Choi’ set, which along with the Chinese New Year set, will not be available on Chinese New Year eve (Feb 15).

The banquet dinners will be served from 6.30pm to 10pm at BCCK’s The Raintree Restaurant and meeting rooms catering to both small and large group bookings.

Private rooms can also be requested, however it is subject to availabili­ty.

Meanwhile, BCCK hosted a Yee Sang tossing ceremony and food tasting session with its media partners and clients yesterday, where among those present were Ministry of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports permanent secretary Hii Chang Kee and BCCK chief executive officer Eric van Piggelen.

Hii, in his speech, commended BCCK for providing a place for people to get together during festive occasions such as Chinese New Year.

“Sarawak is leading the way in creating racial harmony among its people and BCCK has created an avenue where people from different cultural background­s can get together and celebrate each other’s festival,” he said.

Reservatio­ns for the banquet dinners are now open until Feb 11 and can be made via BCCK’s administra­tion office/sales personnel at 082- 392888 from 9am to 6pm ( Mondays to Fridays) or via The Raintree Restaurant at 082- 392988 from 11am to 9pm ( Mondays to Sundays including public holidays).
