Local companies urged to have international strategic alliances
NILAI: Local companies have been urged to develop more strategic alliances with international partners for a mutually beneficial business relationship.
Second Minister of International Trade and Industry, Datuk Seri Ong Ka Chuan said the government had implemented various initiatives to match local companies with large, established corporations, towards assisting domestic brands via knowledge transfer, capacity building and international exposure.
“I strongly believe that cooperation between domestic and international players will strengthen the capabilities of our players to enable them to capitalise on the expanding services global value chain.
“This will in turn allow our domestic players to provide better products and services to benefit the people,” he said in his speech at the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding between Green Target Group and Best Western Hotels and Resorts.
Also present was Green Target Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Tan Hong Lai and Best Western Hotels and Resorts Regional Director of International Operations - Asia, Ketsara Chukhien.
Ong said the government had also launched many initiatives and measures to better assist domestic companies and service providers to compete internationally and be an active contributor to the growth of the sector in the country.
Earlier, Ong witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Tan and Chukhien on behalf of their respective companies on the proposed development of the Mesa Hotel.
Meanwhile, Tan said he expects Mesa Hotel, the company’s first, to be completed by 2020.
