Local companies urged to have internatio­nal strategic alliances

NILAI: Local companies have been urged to develop more strategic alliances with internatio­nal partners for a mutually beneficial business relationsh­ip.

Second Minister of Internatio­nal Trade and Industry, Datuk Seri Ong Ka Chuan said the government had implemente­d various initiative­s to match local companies with large, establishe­d corporatio­ns, towards assisting domestic brands via knowledge transfer, capacity building and internatio­nal exposure.

“I strongly believe that cooperatio­n between domestic and internatio­nal players will strengthen the capabiliti­es of our players to enable them to capitalise on the expanding services global value chain.

“This will in turn allow our domestic players to provide better products and services to benefit the people,” he said in his speech at the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understand­ing between Green Target Group and Best Western Hotels and Resorts.

Also present was Green Target Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Tan Hong Lai and Best Western Hotels and Resorts Regional Director of Internatio­nal Operations - Asia, Ketsara Chukhien.

Ong said the government had also launched many initiative­s and measures to better assist domestic companies and service providers to compete internatio­nally and be an active contributo­r to the growth of the sector in the country.

Earlier, Ong witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understand­ing between Tan and Chukhien on behalf of their respective companies on the proposed developmen­t of the Mesa Hotel.

Meanwhile, Tan said he expects Mesa Hotel, the company’s first, to be completed by 2020.

“This hotel, with a Gross Developmen­t Value of RM50 million, was part of the MesaHill integrated developmen­t in Nilai, which comprises seven blocks of 3,000 unit’s of apartment and a shopping mall, the Mesa Mall. — Bernama
