Asfia: No integrity issue for S’wak BN candidates
LIMBANG: The state Barisan Nasional ( BN) candidates contesting in the next parliamentary election are unlikely to face any problem when it comes to integrity screening.
Sarawak State Legislative Assembly ( DUN) Speaker Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar said it was because of the integrity factor that BN secured an overwhelming victory in Sarawak in the last polls.
“Sarawak will not have any problem,” he said.
Asfia’s remark was in response to the announcement by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi that all BN candidates for the 14th general election ( GE14) would undergo integrity screening.

be the litmus test.
However, the names of candidates would be recommended by the states, for both the parliamentary and state seats.
This exercise would be carried out by a BN special unit, run in collaboration with relevant agencies, notably the Malaysian Anti- Corruption Commission ( MACC).
On this, Asfia said Sarawak has always looked for not only quality and popularity, but also integrity when it comes to the selection of leaders.

Asfia presented a cheque of RM100,000 to Masjid Baitul Iman here to help with the construction of a mini hall yesterday.
On hand to receive the cheque was mosque chairman Penghulu Jamil Bakar.
Batu Danau assemblyman Paulus Palu Gumbang, Limbang Division Islamic Affairs Department officer Awang Abdul Rahim Awang Rosely, Limbang Islamic Welfare Charity Board treasurer Mahmud Amit and local community leader Penghulu Abu Tinggal witnessed the presentation of the cheque.
