Kristen Wiig joins comedy series from Apple, Witherspoon

-

TECH giant Apple is building out its original content offering with a 10- episode comedy produced by Reese Witherspoon and starring Kristen Wiig.

Based on an unpublished collection of short stories, Curtis Sittenfeld’s “You Think It, I’ll Say It,” Apple is expanding its slate of original programming with a Kristen Wiig comedy drama.

Famous for ten years aboard “Saturday Night Live,” Wiig’s fi lmhouse breakthrough came with ensemble comedy “Bridesmaids,” and she has voiced characters in the “Despicable Me” and “How to Train Your Dragon” franchise.

Having guested in a half- dozen episodes of “The Last Man on Earth,” she’s continuing her return to TV after a seven- episode stint on “Arrested Development” courtesy of Reese Witherspoon and Apple, Inc.

An awardw i n n i n g actress herself for musical biopic “Walk the Line” and TV series “Big Little Lies,” Witherspoon added producer roles to her resumé beginning with “Legally Blonde 2” in 2003.

That might not have been a critical success but it made bank and, after modern fairy-tale “Penelope” in 2006, Witherspoon’s 2014 fi lms “Wild,” in which she acted and produced, and “Gone Girl,” which she produced on, were awards circuit regulars. Apple is gearing up its own production of original content following two 2017 series pushed through its subscript ion service Apple Music , “Planet of the Apps” and “Carpool Karaoke: T h e Series.” — Relaxnews
