MIRI: Some 480 people from two longhouses – Rumah Muyang and Rumak Senju in Sibuti will benefit from Malaysia Airports’ corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme.

Malaysia Airports yesterday embarked on Airports @ Community, its CSR programme to improve quality of living and the education of children and the people in rural areas through repairing and upgrading infrastructure in the villages.

Fifteen students from University Malaya (UM) together with the Teach For Malaysia Alumni (TFMA) are involved in the programme in collaboration with Care4All@Sibuti under University Malaya students’ charity project.

Malaysia Airports managing director Datuk Badlisham Ghazali said: “In our corporate social responsibility, Malaysia Airports always emphasise and is sensitive to the people’s need. With the new school session, we lend a hand by repairing the bridge which links SK Sungai Manong and Rumah Muyang for the convenience, comfort and safety of children going to the school.

“We hope and pray that this will encourage and motivate them to study hard as they will be the manpower and future leaders of the country,” he added.

Apart repairing the bridge, the programme from Jan 14 to 19 includes repainting of SK Sungai Manong.

Malaysia Airports also contributed RM20,000 to Rumah Mayung village safety, security and development committee (JKKK) and SK Sungai Manong Parent-Teacher Association.
