KUCHING: Kuching folk can now enjoy a selection of food and drinks under the stars with the launch of the DBKU Food Truck Park under Satok flyover.

“The food trucks have been operating at this location since last year, and will be operating regularly from 6pm to midnight daily starting this month,” said Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) Datuk Bandar Datuk Abang Abdul Wahap Abang Julai.

Abdul Wahap handed over the operations of the park to Sarawak Bumiputera Mobile Traders Association president Mahathir Ibrahim on Friday evening.

He added that presently there are 10 food trucks offering burger, kebab, chicken chop, ABC, ‘rojak’, cakes and popcorn.

He hopes that DBKU Food Truck Park would enliven the area in the evenings as well as increase the income of local folks.

With the free and easy concept, he expects it to be a hit among youths to relax and enjoy some food.

As a start, DBKU has put up spot lights and LED lighting to brighten up the area and carried out other initiatives to beautify the place.

Food truck enterpreneurs were also encouraged to promote their products online and participate in the digital economy.

“You can set up Facebook pages to promote your business and reach more customers. Be creative. Give your customers new experiences,” he said.
