Three Telang Usan schools receive aid from foundation

-

MIRI: Three schools in the Telang Usan state constituency received aid from Kuala Lumpur-based MyKasih Foundation.

Pupils from SK Long Loyang, SK Long Bemang and SK Long Luteng each received a school bag, school uniform, and writing materials under the programme.

“I submitted all names of the schools in my constituency but was told to reduce it to ensure that the aid could be distributed throughout the state,” said Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau when presenting the aid at SK Long Loyang recently.

He said if the aid is still available next year, other schools in the constituency would be proposed.

“I hope this initiative will spur successful and educated locals to come forward and assist schools located in their own villages,” he said.

Dennis pointed out that there were many requests from schools for facilities such as halls, or to repair old classrooms, and construct fencing around school compounds.

“These are important and urgent matters but unfortunately the government will not able to respond to all the schools’ needs. Therefore, the locals must come forward if they care for the very institution that had put them where they are today.

“Without this humble institution, many would not have the steady position and income that has enabled them to compete with others. Hence, it is necessary for every one of us to ensure that children would be able to continue accessing education in a conducive and friendly environment,” he added.

MyKasih Foundation was founded by Dialog Group Berhad executive chairman Tan Sri Dr Ngau Boon Keat and his wife Puan Sri Jean Ngau.
