-

MIRI: PBB vice- president Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi is keeping his options open on whether to contest the post of senior vice- president of the party during its Triennial Delegates Conference ( TDC) this Feb 8-11.

Asked if he would accept nominations from branches for him to contest for the party’s third highest post, he replied: “I am open to any nomination but I will decide whether to accept it or not when the time comes.”

The Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development and Kapit MP was asked on speculation that he might contest the post as incumbent senior vice-president Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah would be elevated to deputy president for the Pesaka Wing together with fellow deputy chief minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan from the Bumiputera wing.

He had earlier attended a briefing at PWD Miri office on the proposed upgrading of 199 km of non- active logging roads in Baram by his ministry.

Uggah became acting deputy party president after Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Alfred Jabu Numpang vacated the post for the Pesaka wing while Awang Tengah became acting deputy party president ( Bumiputera wing) after Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg was promoted to party president upon becoming the state’s 6th Chief Minister.

The coming party election is expected to see the second echelon leaders of the party climb up the ladder of hierarchy.
