Bank Rakyat partners with Takaful Ikhlas in offering protection plan to customers

-

KUCHING: Takaful Ikhlas in collaboration with Bank Rakyat has launched the ‘ Takaful Amani Plus’ – a comprehensive accident protection plan to cover death, permanent disability and personal injury losses for Bank Rakyat customers.

The launch was held in conjunction with Bank Negara Financial Carnival last Wednesday.

Bank Rakyat president and managing director Dato’ Zulkiflee Abbas Abdul Hamid and Takaful Ikhlas Bhd president and chief executive officer Datuk Latiff Abu Bakar officiated at the ceremony.

This plan, according to a publicity release, is a product that has been enhanced from the Takaful Amani protection plan, which was launched in 2010.

Takaful Amani now has nearly 800,000 entries from bank customers.

The underwritten plan by Takaful Ikhlas offers benefits up to RM30,000 for losses due to death or total permanent disability, apart from other benefits up to RM150,000 for death or total permanent disability due to accidents.

Bank Rakyat customers can get this plan with a contribution of as low as RM90 per year, or equivalent to RM0.25 sen per day. It offers three comprehensive protection plan options with different benefits.

According to Latif, the Takaful Amani Plus protection is a special protection plan for Bank Rakyat customers.

“Through this protection plan, Bank Rakyat’s customers who take up the plan can ease their financial burden when faced with unexpected disasters such as death, permanent disability or accident.

“Considering that this protection contribution is not burdensome, we hope Bank Rakyat customers would seize this opportunity to protect themselves and their families.”

Meanwhile, Zulkiflee expressed his hope that this affordable plan would help solve many problems faced by consumers that had caused them to lose interest in buying a ‘ takaful’ protection plan.

At the carnival launch, 50 single mothers from around Kedah were each provided with the Takaful Amani Plus protection plan – free for one year.

As a caring Islamic cooperative bank, the contribution to single mothers was part of the bank’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative, aimed at reducing the financial burden ofd the needy groups by providing protection plan for their entire families.

In addition, this initiative was also aimed at raising public awareness of the importance of obtaining a ‘takaful’ protection plan to protect themselves and their families against the risks of accidental and chronic illnesses regardless of age.
