-

BESUT: A 53-year- old housewife and her three daughters turned aggressive at the family home in Felda Selasih here on Monday when the police tried to arrest the son for suspected drug trafficking.

In the incident, one of the daughters bit the right hand of a policeman as he tried to place the 29-year- old man under custody.

Nevertheless, the team of policemen detained the suspected trafficker and also took the housewife and her daughters into custody for alleged obstruction of justice.

Also detained was the man’s 22-year- old suspected accomplice.

Besut police chief, Supt Mohd Zamri Mohd Rowi said the policeman whose hand was bitten by one of the daughters sought treatment at the Besut Hospital.

He said about five hours before the arrest of the suspected trafficker at his family home, the man had given the police team the slip when a drug raid was mounted about 2pm, at a place behind a house in Felda Selasih.

“During the raid, the police arrested the 22-year- old suspect while the 29-year- old escaped,” he told the media here yesterday.

Mohd Zamri said the police seized 270 psychotropic pills from the waist bag of the suspect, as well as seven transparent plastic bottles believed to contain heroin, a bag containing identification card and a driving licence and a small bottle of liquid suspected to be a drug, at the scene.

The police also seized three vehicles, namely an Isuzu pickup truck, Honda Civic and Proton Wira, as well as two motorcycles, namely Yamaha Lagenda and Honda EX5, and RM600.

The vehicles and machines were believed to have been bought with proceeds from the sale of drugs. — Bernama
