Calling entries for Mr Kuching on March 24
KUCHING: Sarawak Bodybuilding Association (SBBA) will hold this year’s Mr Kuching bodybuilding championships at the Atrium of Plaza Merdeka on March 24.
According to SBBA secretary Andy Ismail, the competition will feature nine bodybuilding and two athletic physique (AP) categories.
The bodybui lders wil l vie for titles in the Junior ( Aged 21 and Below), Masters ( Aged 45 and Above), Flyweight ( 60kg and Below) , Bantamweight ( 60.1- 65kg), Lightweight ( 65.170kg), Welterweight ( 70.1-75kg), Light Middleweight (75.1- 80kg), Middleweight ( 80.1- 85kg) and Light Heavyweight (85.1- 90kg).
The two AP categories are heightbased - below and above170cm.
“The competition is open to bodybuilders from Sarawak’s southern zone namely Kuching, Samarahan, Simunjan, Lundu/ Sematan, Bau, Serian, Sri Aman, Betong, Saratok and the surroundings areas.
“We hope to see more new faces this year, as we had been seeing in previous years,” Andy said.

Closing date is on Friday (March 23) when the weigh-in and height measurement sessions will take place at a venue to be announced later.
“It ( Mr Kuching) is meant to select finalists for Mr Sarawak 2018, where Kuching is hosting this year. The date ( for Mr Sarawak 2018) is April 14, also at Plaza Merdeka,” Andy added.
The state- level Mr Sarawak 2018 will gather finalists from all division- level competitions – namely Mr Kuching, Mr Sibu and Mr Miri – who will vie for places in the state contingent heading to the 49th Mr Malaysia National Bodybuilding Championships in Kuala Terengganu from May 11 to 13.
