Hope Place needs special milk powder for nose cancer patient

-

KUCHING: Hope Place Kuching is banking on the generosity of the public to donate ‘ Nutren Optimum’, a nutritional supplement for adults.

Its founder Kelvin Wan said the charitable organisation does not have this special milk powder which is required by one of its recipients, Ugom Marong.

“We were recently informed by a social worker from the Sarawak General Hospital that Ugom, who is an outstation patient suffering from nose cancer, is in need of ‘ Nutren Optimum’.

“He cannot consume food normally and has to be fed through on enteral tube,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Wan said the 74-year- old, who is from the interior of Song, Kapit, currently lives in a longhouse which does not have water supply.

“His wife is also very sick and suffers from heart problem and hypertension.”

Wan is hoping Good Samaritans can sponsor the ‘ Nutren Optimum’, which costs more than RM100 per tin.

“Ugom needs one tin every two to three days, so we hope to receive sponsorship for ‘ Nutren Optimum’ from the public soon.”

Hope Place currently supports more than 190 families by contributing essential food items like rice, cooking oil, sugar, salt, biscuits, and noodles. Many of these families or individuals barely earn enough to get through the month; hence are grateful for assistance of basic necessities delivered to them.

For more information, call its hotline ( 013- 567 2775) or office ( 082- 505987) from 8.30am to 12pm and 2pm to 5pm Mondays to Fridays, and 9am to 12pm on Saturdays.
