-

KUCHING: Connections Toastmasters Club ( CTMC) will be conducting an educational meeting tomorrow (Jan 25) at Cafeteria Homestay, Jalan Ellis starting 7.30pm.

Toastmasters International is a non- profit educational organisation which provides a platform for the members in training on public speaking, effective communication and leadership skills.

For the past 14 years, CTMC has successfully developed many leaders and successful speakers.

The club, according to a press release, aims to build up competent speakers through completed speeches manuals with constructive feedbacks and evaluation from club members in an uplifting and positive environment.

CTMC president Vincent Chai said participants can learn and progress in a supportive learnbydoing environment that allows them to achieve their goals at their own pace.

“Members of the public who are interested in public speaking or leadership are always welcomed to join the educational meeting,” he added.

A typical Toastmasters meeting will have members doing prepared speeches in which evaluation and feedback will be provided to encourage speakers to improve further.

There will be an impromptu speaking session, known as Table Topics which allows audiences to speak for 1-2 minutes based on the topics given.

Themed ‘ F. R. I. E. N. D. S.’, Chai said that ‘as iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend’.

The meeting is opened to the public. The door fee for the club meeting is RM10 per person inclusive of light refreshment.

The meeting is held on every second and fourth Thursdays of the month at the Cafeteria Homestay.
