KAPIT: Rumah Untang Jirau folk in Nanga Sekura, Ulu Sungai Yong have benefited from a cement access road, which was completed at the end of last year.

Bukit Goram assemblyman Jefferson Jamit Unyat, who inspected the 200-metre long road on Tuesday, said the RM100,000 project was constructed under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP).

“I am happy to note the quality work by the contractor. The contractor is commended for also carrying out corporate social responsibility ( CSR) to help the villagers to level the front part of the longhouse for parking purposes without additional charges,” he said.

With the access road, the residents can now drive right up to the longhouse and have a proper area to park their cars.

Meanwhile, Jamit called on the people to continue supporting Barisan Nasional ( BN), particularly incumbent Kapit Member of Parliament Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi during the upcoming parliamentary election, to ensure there is uninterrupted development.

“Datuk Nanta as the Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development in Putrajaya has a strong connection with the federal ministers.

“This strong relationship may facilitate many development projects implemented in Kapit,” he said.

“We must give him the undivided support to ensure the connection becomes stronger and stronger, which means more funding for Kapit.”

Rumah Untang Jirau has 30 units and is home to some 200 villagers.
