PCM veep lodges report over death threat

-

BUKIT MERTAJAM: Parti Cinta Malaysia vice-president Datuk Huan Cheng Guan yesterday lodged a police report over what he claimed to be a death threat via SMS yesterday from an unidentified person.

He said the threat was in the form of a message ‘ CAKAP BANYAK, KAU MATI’ ( YOU TALK TOO MUCH, YOU ARE A DEAD MAN) which he received at about 3pm from an unknown telephone number.

“I tried to reply to that message and to call the number but It could not be reached anymore and my reply wasn’t delivered. So, I would like to urge the police to investigate the case for the safety of my family members,” he told reporters after lodging the report at the Central Seberang Prai District Police headquarters in Bandar Perda.

He said he could not immediately identify the person or find out the reason for the message but believed that it could be due to his courage in speaking up against the DAP-led state government for the benefit of the Penang people.

“I have no idea (who or why). I was shocked when I saw the message. I just replied ‘kita tengok sapa mati dulu’ ( let‘s see who dies first),” he said.

Huan said he would not back down and would continue to speak up for Penangites against any corruption involving the present state government.

“This is the first time I have received a death threat, but I do not want to pinpoint any specific case or person and will leave it to the police to investigate,” he said.

Huan is known for being vocal against the state government, especially in relation to a report he is said to have submitted to the Malaysian Anti- Corruption Commission in connection with the proposed undersea tunnel and three paired roads project.

It is believed that his report prompted the MACC to investigate the multi-billion ringgit project.

Huan had also reportedly exposed the issue over the Volunteer Patrol Team ( PPS) established by the state government. — Bernama
