Selangor media personnel attend EC briefing

SHAH ALAM: A total of 79 media personnel from 30 print and electronic media agencies, particular­ly in Selangor attended an election briefing organised by the Election Commission ( EC) here yesterday.

The four-hour briefing was to expose the media on its role and duties during the forthcomin­g general election, which has be held by August this year.

At the briefing, several media personnel also had the opportunit­y to experience at first hand the election simulation held by EC by adhering to all the procedures set throughout the polling and counting process.

Radio Televisyen Malaysia media personnel, Samsia Samsi, 33, told Bernama the simulation was timely in view of the 14th General Election ( GE14) as she could see that EC used a rigorous procedure starting from the dissolutio­n of Parliament until the gazetting of the new election results.

Another media personnel Radzi Razak from The Malaysian Insight said yesterday’s briefing also gave the participan­ts an indepth understand­ing on the procedures used by the EC, including on how to become an election candidate’s agent.

Meanwhile Selangor Election Office deputy director Kamarul Azman Ahmad Sabri said 35,000 polling personnel were expected to be stationed in Selangor during GE14. — Bernama
