UPP strongly behind BN, vows Soon Koh

-

KUCHING: International Trade and E-Commerce Minister and Second Finance Minister Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh is happy to have witnessed the opening ceremony of the 14th Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Convention here.

“From day one, we believe in the Barisan Nasional (BN) spirit and we fight for the BN goal. We are part and parcel of the family.

“It is quite natural for (Assistant Transportation Minister) Datuk Dr Jerip (Susil) and myself to be invited to the PBB Convention because we are part of the state cabinet and BN Sarawak,” he said after Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak officiated at the ceremony in Borneo Convention Centre Kuching yesterday.

Chief Minister and PBB president Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg delivered his welcoming address prior to the official launch.

Wong, who is United People’s Party (UPP) president and Dr Jerip – also the UPP deputy president – were among the political leaders present.

Wong reiterated that their (his and Dr Jerip’s) presence ‘is quite natural’, given that PBB is the anchor of BN Sarawak – in view of it being the strongest and largest BN component party in the state.

“We are all behind the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister, and we will give every possible support to strengthen BN in the coming parliamentary election,” he stressed.

Wong said UPP would ‘definitely deliver the seats to BN’, should the party be given the opportunity in the coming polls.

“We have the manpower and resources and we will deliver the seats to BN, if our potential candidates are given the opportunity.”

Wong said UPP had submitted its list of winnable candidates to the BN leadership for consideration.

“We will leave it to the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister to decide whether our potential candidates are the winnable candidates,” he said.
