Cameron Diaz joke backfires, publicist Selma Blair resigns

-

LOS ANGELES: Publicist Selma Blair has resigned following a backlash from her joke that actress Cameron Diaz, 45, has “retired”.

In an urgent tweet to try to limit the damage done, Blair wrote: “Guys please, I was making a joke in an interview,. CAMERON DIAZ is NOT retiring from ANYTHING. And for more breaking news: I am NOW retiring from being Cameron Diaz’s spokesperson.”

Diaz is one of Hollywood’s leading ladies, with blockbusters such as Charlie’s Angels, Shrek and There’s Something About Mary to her name.

According to Blair’s earlier statement, Diaz has retired from acting to focus on family life with her musician husband Benji Madden, 39.

Blair had said that Diaz is ‘done’ with the film industry and has no plans to return to the big screen.

Speaking at the Oscar’s Vanity

I had lunch with Cameron the other day, we were reminiscing about the film. I would have liked to do a sequel but Cameron’s retired from acting, she’s like “I’m done”.

Fair pre- party in Los Angeles, Blair, who stars in the 2002 movie The Sweetest Thing with the blonde beauty, said: ‘ I had lunch with Cameron the other day, we were reminiscing about the film. “I would have liked to do a sequel but Cameron’s retired from acting, she’s like “I’m done”.

“I mean, she doesn’t need to make any more films, she has a pretty great life, I don’t know what it would take to bring her back.”

Cameron has been on a hiatus since the release of Annie back in 2014, in which she starred as Miss Hannigan.
