JULAU: Cooperation between community leaders and various government departments is important to ensure smooth development in any area, said Julau MP Datuk Joseph Salang Gandum.

He said such cooperation will stand the people in good stead when it comes to the allocation of funds to their respective areas.

“Development does not come in the blink of an eye; it needs cooperation and concerted effort from everyone. This is to ensure every fund allocated will be used wisely for the benefit of everyone.”

Speaking at a meet-the-people session at Rh Luyoh Ugam, Tanjung Udol last Sunday, he urged community leaders to support the efforts of elected people’s representatives in helping a place to develop.

“Make sure the people will not be hoodwinked by certain quarters, particularly when the general election is nearing,” he told the community leaders.

At the event, Salang commissioned a new RM200,000 bridge for the longhouse.

Also present was Assistant Minister of Native Laws and Customs, Datuk John Sikie Tayai.
