Tanjung Manis set to become administrative hub
TANJUNG MANIS: Tanjung Manis is set to become an administrative hub thanks to the elevation of Belawai Sub-District to Tanjung Manis District.
Assistant Minister of Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment Datu Len Talif Salleh said plans to move the administrative centre here from Kampung Belawai would be most appropriate.
When officiating at the Tanjung Manis Day celebration here recently, the Kuala Rajang assemblyman said the Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation (STIDC) also planned to build an administrative complex here.
He said Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud has been invited to officiate at the earth breaking ceremony for STIDC’s proposed 16- storey administrative building here on April 4.
Len Talif said collaboration between STIDC and the district office would accelerate the pace of development in the area.
He suggested Tanjung Manis District request for funds to implement social amenity projects, village road projects, and hardcore poor housing projects.
On Tanjung Manis Day, Len said its main objectives were to provide a platform to update the people on current development, share information on opportunities made available by the government, and strengthen ties between people of different backgrounds.
Among those present were STIDC deputy general manager Hashim Bojet, Mukah Deputy Resident Abdul Halim Abdullah, Tanjung Manis District Officer Udin Bujang, and STIDC Central Region acting general manager Johari Zainuddin.
