People in Limbang told to be united in BN for greater progress

LIMBANG: The people in Limbang should remain together under one roof and sail together towards greater progress and prosperity under Barisan Nasional ( BN).

In stating this, Assistant Minister of Agricultur­e Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail said the spirit of cooperatio­n is essential in driving the momentum of developmen­t in Limbang district where much more need to be done.

“All, including the Chinese community in Limbang, should give full support to BN in the coming general election which would be held soon,” he said at the Chinese New Year 2018 dinner organised by Limbang Division Federation of Chinese Associatio­ns recently.

Dr Abdul Rahman said election is a normal democratic process but keeping the spirit of solidarity and unity intact is essential to avoid bickering, internal conflict and strife.

The assistant minister pointed out that the welfare of Sarawakian­s, including the Chinese community in Limbang, would be better looked after by the BN government as it would continue to roll out plans to develop and uplift the socio- economic level of the district.

“The government has a mission to continue all the plans in developing Limbang District where much more need to be done, not only on basic infrastruc­ture but education and other aspects,” he said.

He also called on the people in Limbang to maintain their spirit of cooperatio­n and good relations with neighbouri­ng Brunei, which is a major contributo­r to the local economy.

Later, Dr Abdul Rahman announced MRP grants of RM15,000 to the federation and RM5,000 to the Limbang Hakka Associatio­n.

Also present at the function were his wife Dayang Maimunah Awang Mohd Daud, Batu Danau assemblyma­n Paulus Gumbang and wife Mary Sindang, Limbang District Council chairman Sufian Mohat, Limbang OCPD Superinten­dent Mohd Bukhori Saffai, Limbang Division Federation of Chinese Associatio­n chairman Dato Wong King Hong and wife councillor Datin Tiong Siew Chin and vice- president Kong Pie Sing.
