Post SPM/STPM programme for school leavers to be held this Saturday
MIRI: Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia ( SPM), Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia ( STPM) school leavers and secondary school students are invited to participate in the ‘Program Langkah Selepas SPM/STPM’ this Saturday, March 17.
Miri Malay Association chairman (PMM) Radzali Alision said it will take place at Miri Malay Welfare Trust Board ( LAKMM) hall at Jalan Kipas here from 9am to 1pm with no entry fee charged.
“This programme is aimed at helping students decide whether to pursue their studies at certain university or choose a skills institution,” he said at a media conference here yesterday.
Radzali said more than 30 institutions and experts are invited to provide information, explanations and advice as well as answer questions related to students’ career or study.
This year’s programme in its 15th year is jointly organised by PMM, Persatuan Anak Jati Lawas Miri, Pertubuhan Kebajikan Dangsanak Limbang Miri, Dayak Bidayuh National Association (DBNA) and LAKMM.
During this programme, the organisers will certify copies of academic and curriculum certificates on the day of the event.
“At the same time, we will ensure that SPM or STPM students fill in the correct application information as well as choose the majors in accordance with their qualifications and interest. The presence of the education experts will assist students in understanding what their future holds for them, what courses to take (academic or skills), and advice on what to do after SPM or STPM.
“For those who want to choose the technical and vocational field, we have invited skills institutes in Miri to provide a briefing and course offer so I hope students and parents take this opportunity to come to our programme,” he said, adding the programme is open to all students, including parents and school counsellors.
Also present were Abu Bakar Matasan of Pertubuhan Kebajikan Dangsanak Limbang Miri, Captain Bernard Idit and Benard Ralphie of Dayak Bidayuh National Association (DBNA) and LAKMM education officer Fairuz Shaida Habibi Abideen.
