ACCA, MPI hold workshop on latest accounting development, trends
SIBU: Some 50 teachers and representatives from accounting organisations attended a two- day workshop on the latest development and trends in the professional accounting pathway.
The ‘Accounting and Counsellors Teachers’ workshop, which ended yesterday, was jointly organised by the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA) and Methodist Pilley Institute ( MPI) at the latter’s premises at Lily Road here.
MPI principal Hii King Kai said the workshop aimed to update the school teachers to enable them to help students make better decisions on their future.
He also commended ACCA for taking proactive steps in updating its syllabus to produce a new generation of accountants.
“In addition to relevant accounting, managerial and entrepreneurial skills, the syllabus also focuses on innovation, performance excellence and change management.
“This will enable organisational success and implement change through effective organisational processes, information and technology solutions, and project management, including the role of new and disruptive technologies in transforming the nature of business analysis and transactions,” he added.
Sibu Education assistant officer John Francis Untam was among those present at the workshop.
