Ugak calls on womenfolk in Hulu Rajang to support BN in coming general election

-

KAPIT: Womenfolk in Hulu Rajang constituency are advised to give their full support to the Barisan Nasional ( BN) in the coming general election (GE14).

Addressing them at a fundraising dinner organised by the Women’s Bureau of Rumah Robin Ungkong, Lubok Mawang, Baleh recently, Hulu Rajang MP Datuk Wilson Ugak acknowledged that women form a big group of BN supporters in the parliamentary constituency and urged them to tell their friends and relatives to vote for the BN candidate contesting there in the election.

The dinner was held at the Civic Centre here to raise funds for the bureau’s activities.

Ugak lauded the bureau for being pro-active in raising funds for its activities instead of relying on the government for assistance.

At the same time, he pledged to serve the constituents to the best of his ability and to bring more development projects to Hulu Rajang.

“I try my best to serve this constituency. Hulu Rajang is a big area covering three state constituencies, namely Baleh, Belaga and Murum. We are far behind in terms of infrastructure and amenities.

“In my efforts to uplift the wellbeing of the people, I invited the Deputy Health Minister to visit Kapit and Mujong last year. Just a few days ago, Minister of Education Datuk Seri Mahazir Khalid visited SMK Baleh and SK Lepong Baleh to see the conditions of the rural schools which I always brought up in Parliament for students to enjoy the same facilities provided in urban schools,” he said.

He also said in two to three years’ time, the road from Mujong to Putai would be completed.

“This will enable people to drive all the way to Kapit and we are planning to open up land in Baleh for commercial crops like rubber to generate income,” he said, adding that the rugged terrain is suitable for rubber planting.

Political secretary to the chief minister Datuk Seri Doris Sophia Brodie, who is the women chief of Parti Rakyat Sarawak ( PRS), political secretary to the chief minister Nicholas Kudi Jantai, Bukit Mabong district officer Douglas Pungga, Temenggong Tan Kian Hoo, other community leaders and the Women’s Bureau of Rumah Robin chief Jenny Crystal Masang were among the crowd at the dinner.
