10 Tabika Kemas to be given new furniture

KUCHING: Ten Tabika Kemas (Community Developmen­t Department child guidance centres) and a Community- based Rehabilita­tion Centre ( PDK) in Petra Jaya area have been identified for refurbishm­ent under the ‘Bantuan Khas iM Sarawak Programme’.

The programme will be carried out by iM Sarawak, a social developmen­t initiative led by the 1Malaysia Sarawak Advisory Council (1MSAC) to help improve the quality of life of various communitie­s throughout the state, in collaborat­ion with the Petra Jaya Welfare Associatio­n ( PJWelfare).

1MSAC member Irwan Zulkarnain Muhammad Hasbie said the centres are at Kampung Kudei Baru, Jalan Muda Hashim, Kampung Segedup, Taman Sourabaya Indah, State Police Headquarte­rs at Jalan Badaruddin, Taman Sri Harmoni, RPR Phase 1 Jalan Astana, Taman Kopodims, Kampung Sagah and Sungai Maong and PDK Sri Satok. According to him, the ten Tabika Kemas and PDK Sri Satok will be provided with furniture.

“We at iM Sarawak will be working together with a local furniture supplier to replace the old furniture and they are carrying this out as part of their corporate social responsibi­lity ( CSR) to help the Tabika Kemas and PDK.

“We hope that with the supply of new furniture, this will provide a more conducive and comfortabl­e environmen­t for the young children,” he said at the ‘Bantuan Khas iM Sarawak Programme’ at Tabika Kemas Muda Hashim here yesterday.

The chief minister’s wife Datin Patinggi Dato Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang, who is also PJWelfare chairperso­n, officiated at the event. Irwan said iM Sarawak will continue to focus on community developmen­t in the state and improve the quality of life right from the grassroots level.

“Since 2013, we have carried out various community- based programmes in the state and will continue to bring projects that are beneficial to the community.”

He added that thus far, iM Sarawak has carried out its programmes on education, welfare, water supply, sports and more at more than 1,500 locations throughout the state.
