Bintulu Port modernises operations with Sage

BINTULU: Bintulu Port Holdings Group is embarking on a critical project to modernise and streamline its financial systems, as part of its on- going digital transforma­tion.

Through this journey, the group aims to achieve better support for its operations, improved management of its inventory assets, and superior IT capabiliti­es to attain greater success in 2018 and beyond.

Bintulu Port Holdings Bhd ( BPHB) group chief executive officer Datuk Mohammad Medan Abdullah emphasised in a publicity release yesterday that the project’s objective was to focus on a systems- driven approach to provide consistent business processes and to uphold services delivery to port users for ease of trade and business.

“We want to be as efficient as possible, using the best and most updated tools to serve our customers as we are in the service industry where customer satisfacti­on is vital,” he said during the official project signing ceremony between BPHB and Portrade Internatio­nal Sdn Bhd (PISB).

on behalf of the group while PISB was represente­d by its CEO Peter Yap Seng.

Also present to witness the signing ceremony were Bintulu Port Sdn Bhd chief operating officer Omar Salleh, Biport Bulkers Sdn Bhd COO Yusof Ibrahim, Samalaju Industrial Port Sdn Bhd COO Matshalleh Mohamad Etli, BPHB Group Informatio­n Technology general manager Abdul Manan Illing and PISB general manager Lim Chee Wei.

Medan stressed that as BPHB was embarking on its transforma­tion journey, its employees must start to think of using tools that ease their work, making them more effective whilst addressing good governance and compliance to deliver their services in a seamless manner.

“With all these principles in mind, it will indeed provide an advanced process and system, improving work practice in your respective areas,” he said.

By leveraging Sage X3 enterprise management solution, BPHB expect their financial systems to determine its bottom line with greater accuracy by gaining realtime business visibility in the areas of budgets and accounting, fixed assets, financial reporting and cash flow management.

“This financial visibility into the business will vastly improve future purchase decisions, eliminate wastage of resources and reduce risk to the business. This represents a critical step in BHPB’s transforma­tion journey towards making better use of data to form intelligen­t business strategies,” he added.

Sage Asia vice president and managing director Robin Chao applauded BHPB’s commitment to its digital transforma­tion as it strives to become a worldclass LNG port by enabling every employee and manager to be equipped with the tools and insights to respond to their customer needs more quickly and intelligen­tly.

“We are proud to work with BHPB to help them grow their business,” he said.

Additional­ly, Sage 300 People will offer an integrated view of human resource and payroll.

Through its implementa­tion, Medan pointed out that the HR team at BPHB will be able to integrate various sources of realtime data around headcount, manpower talents and payroll expenses for fast, analytical reporting.

This eliminates time and resources spent on data entry, allowing the HR leaders internally to focus on more strategic tasks such as forecastin­g future business plans and optimising talent programmes.

Sage 300 People will also be more successful in reaching employees who are dispersed across business units and geographic­al locations.
