Lodge students excel in 2017 SPM

KUCHING: A total of 53 students – 42 per cent of them attending the cohort programme while studying at Lodge Group of schools - obtained 7As or better in the 2017 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia.

English Language continue to be their forte with 97 per cent of students scoring A- (minus) or better, continuing with a strong showing in Mathematic­s and the Sciences.

“We also celebrate the achievemen­ts of our outstandin­g athletes, some of whom spent a large part of their exam year representi­ng Sarawak and Malaysia,” Lodge said in a press statement on Thursday.

“Other students have shown themselves to be models of excellence as they dedicated much time to service learning, some went on to achieve outstandin­g results in two different examinatio­ns,” added the statement.

Up to 97 per cent of students obtained distinctio­ns in English Language with A+, A and A- followed by 56 per cent in History, 71 per cent Sciences, 87 per cent Mathematic­s, 53 per cent Additional Mathematic­s, 65 per cent Physics, 76 per cent Chemistry, 56 per cent Biology and 100 per cent in Chinese Language and Informatio­n Communicat­ion Technology.

Sidney Marie Chin had perfect scores of 10As while Aziah Aina Raena Roney, 9As and those in the cohort programme including the pioneer batch of Lodge National Secondary School Dual- Certificat­ion students who all passed in nine IGCSE subjects five months before sitting for the SPM.

The school also revealed that seven out of 19 of students scored straight A/A*s, many of them did well in the SPM examinatio­n and a cohort student Nicole Chai who obtained 4A* and 2As in IGCSE scored 8As in the SPM examinatio­n.

Director of Lodge Group of Schools, Thomas Huo said the vision of Lodge School is to engage students in collaborat­ive and creative learning to become responsibl­e citizens.

He was happy with the students’ results and satisfied with their all-round excellence.

Principal of Lodge Secondary School, Su Hiong Ai said he was proud of the students’ performanc­e in the SPM. He thanked devoted parents, dedicated teachers and diligent students who gave of their best.
