BR1M recipients with no bank accounts from Jepak, Tg Batu receive vouchers

BINTULU: A total of 1,407 recipients of the 1Malaysia People’s Aid ( BR1M) from Jepak and Tanjong Batu state constituen­cies who do not have bank accounts have received their vouchers.

The presentati­on was held at the civic centre here yesterday, performed by Minister in Chief Minister’s Off ice ( Integrity and Ombudsman) Datuk Talib Zulpi lip who is also Jepak assemblyma­n.

The s e BR1M appl i c ant s comprise 204 constituen­ts from Jepak, and 1,203 from Tanjong Batu – all entitled to receive the aid under the first stage of BR1M distributi­on for this division.

“We should be grateful to the government for this aid, which means that the government is very concerned about the wellbeing of the people.

“In whatever situation, the government always thinks of the people’s interests,” said Talib, adding that for Sarawak, a total of 537,510 applicants are eligible to receive BR1M this year.

“For local community leaders, grassroots leaders and longhouse chiefs – should you know anyone who is eligible for the aid, please help recommend their names for applicatio­n; if you have friends who are in need of assistance, please help them to apply,” he advised.

Tal ib said as responsibl­e citizens, the people must look after one another, especially the less- fortunate groups.

Meanwhile, Bintulu District Officer Mataip Sayu said the first stage distributi­on for BR1M recipients without bank accounts would continue today.

“For successful applicants from Sebauh and Tatau districts, the distributi­on will be conducted in their respective areas,” he said.
