Report on redelineation of electoral boundaries to be tabled next Wednesday, says Speaker

KUALA LUMPUR: The report on the redelineation of electoral boundaries for parliamentary and state constituencies will be tabled in the Dewan Rakyat next Wednesday.

Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mul ia said the repor t had been distributed to members of the august House.

“I want to remind that all the documents cannot be published, embargoed until its tabling on Wednesday, March 28, 2018,” he said before the start of the Ministers’ Questions Time in Parliament yesterday.

Meanwhile, after the Ministers’ Question Time, several members of the house stood up to seek clarification from Pandikar Amin on whether they could bring out the documents out of the assembly hall to study it.

Pandikar Amin said the documents could not be taken out of the hall.

“If I allow the documents to be taken out, if it is published by the media or others, I’ll not know who is responsible.

“I trust you, but if I allow it to be taken out and it gets published, no one will admit,” he said.

However, after referring to Order 95A of the Standing Orders of the Dewan Rakyat, Pandikar Amin allowed the documents to be taken out of the hall.

“If anything contained in the document is published, whoever publishes it is regarded as violating the order, ” he said. — Bernama
