KAPIT: Proprietors of coffee shops and restaurants operating here and in Song Bazaar have been reminded to adhere strictly to the Price Control Act enforced by the Ministry of Domestic Trade, Cooperative and Consumerism ( KPDNKK) and also the local government’s hygiene byLaws.

According to Kapit Coffee Shop and Restaurant Owners Association chairman Ma Tian Ho, the enforcement officers from KPDNKK, the Public and Environmental Health Division of the Kapit District Council and Kapit Health Department have been actively conducting spotchecks to ensure that those running the eateries here and in Song abide by the rules and regulations.

“Therefore, it is important to create a win- win situation for the proprietors — for them to look after their interest and to keep their premises clean, and at the same time, they are able to maintain their prices at reasonable levels to avoid the ‘ unnecessary headaches’,” he spoke at the association’s annual general meeting ( AGM) here on Wednesday night.

Moreover, Ma also called upon all members from Kapit and Song bazaars to stay united and look after one another, in terms of social welfare.

Meanwhile, he also pointed out that the association had been running many corporate social responsibility ( CSR) programmes throughout the years such as the quarterly mass blood donation campaigns, presentation of assistance to needy students and also donation of teaching aid to SJKC Hock Lam here and SJKC Hin Hua in Song.
