No tiff between DAP and PKR – Youth chief

-

KUCHING: DAP Sri Aman Youth has denied that there is animosity between the party and its Pakatan Harapan ally PKR due to disagreement over the candidacy for the Sri Aman parliamentary seat.

Its chief Alexander Frusis claimed such talks of cold relations between both parties were just rumours created by their political rivals in view of the General Election (GE14) which is now just around the corner.

“We deny strongly those rumours now viral in Sri Aman, which are an attempt to pit DAP against PKR by alleging that we will boycott the Pakatan Harapan candidate from PKR.

“We in DAP Sri Aman Youth fully supports the Pakatan Harapan candidate chosen to contest this seat. We will also assist DAP candidates especially those contesting in Sarawak’s southern region,” he said yesterday.

PKR is expected to nominate its candidate in Sri Aman for the GE14, based on the understanding in Pakatan Harapan Sarawak to retain its status quo of seat allocation between DAP and PKR from GE13 and for Amanah to take over seats contested by PAS.

In GE13, PKR fielded land activist Nicholas Mujah in Sri Aman despite DAP was ready to nominate its Sri Aman branch chief Leon Jimat Donald. The seat was won by Masir Kujat ( BN-PRS) by 6,550-vote majority in a four cornered fight.

On a related matter, Alexander who is also DAP Sri Aman publicity secretary explained Leon was still with the party despite the latter’s lack of publicity of late.

“He is just taking a short break following the demise of his father the late Jimmy Donald. He is still continuing with the struggles of DAP and Pakatan Harapan,” added Alexander.
