Sibu Tattoo Expo 2018 to be held April 6-8

SIBU: A total of 29 tattoo artists are expected at ‘Sibu Tattoo Expo 2018’ to be held at 1Malaysia Cultural Village, Bukit Aup from April 6- 8.

It is organised by the Sarawak Body Ar t s As soci at ion in collaborat­ion with Tribal 12 Tattoo Studio, Zoo Bee Café; Kenarau Magazine, Dapur Panas, Kaban Lama Ethnic Café; LL Design, Bungai Terung Generation, Borneo Legacy Community, Borneo Racers and the Jam Room Music Studio.

“The event will be held from 10am till 10pm over three days,” spokesman for the organising committee Andy Austin said yesterday.

Ther e wi l l b e cul t u ra l per formances by a r t i stes including Dennis Sape, the Pirates of Langkasuka, Eclipse, D’Crystal, Touch N Go, Kelab Sape Dayak Sibu, Nighstreet, Daniel Ading and the Abuel Band.

“The event aims to increase awareness of the well developed tattoo industry in Sarawak as body art.

“We give strong emphasis on hygiene and cleanlines­s in tattooing,” Andy said, expressing hope the government would give the industry the well- deserved support.

Sarawak Dayak National Union (SDNU) deputy secretary-general Chambai Lindong, who is also the SDNU Sibu chairman will officiate at the expo on April 7 at noon.

“The previous Sibu Tattoo Expo was held in 2007. However, similar events were held regularly in Miri and Kuching,” Andy added.
