More funds needed to improve life in Tudan – Lee

MIRI: More funding is needed to implement and improve infrastructure and amenities in all areas under the Tudan resettlement scheme to provide the residents with more conducive, safe and comfortable living environment.

Assistant Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Lee Kim Shin said this is despite the some RM2.6 million that had been spent under various programmes to provide, repair and improve the infrastructure and facilities in the resettlement area.

The Senadin assemblyman disclosed among the projects and programmes implemented in the resettlement scheme last year were construction of village road, repair and upgrading of roads, culvert and drainage and community hall.

“Last year we provided or constructed 87 culverts and improved and upgraded the drainage system to reduce and minimise flooding in low-lying areas here in Tudan,” he said after inspecting the culvert installation and drainage projects in Tudan Desaras Phase 4 recently.

“The complet ion of both projects will be able to reduce and minimise flood incidents in this area, particularly during monsoon season,” said Lee.

“With the expansion of the resettlement scheme, I am going to bid for more funding to provide and upgrade the infrastructure, facilities and amenities to improve the quality and standard of living of the people in the scheme,” he added.
