Kolej Sunway Kuching offers pathway to Heriot-Watt degree
KUCHING: Kolej Sunway Kuching Diploma in Accounting ( DIA) holders now have an education pathway into the Accounting and Business Finance undergraduate programme at Heriot-Watt University Malaysia (HWUM).
The college recently received a Letter of Intent from the university following the successful assessment of the DIA curriculum by the HWUM School of Social Sciences.
DIA holders with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 will be offered a place in the Accounting and Business Finance, MA ( Hons) programme at entry into Year 2, subject to approval by HWUM on the course mapping.
DIA holders with a minimum CGPA of 2.5 will be offered a place in the Accounting and Business Finance, MA ( Hons) programme at entry into Year 1, subject to approval by HWUM on the course mapping.
Applicants must have at least a B in Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia ( SPM) Mathematics and any English qualification equivalent to International English Language Testing System 6.0, in order to meet the English language proficiency requirement for entry into the undergraduate programme.
Launched in September 2013, the DIA programme consists of 30 subjects and can be completed in two and a half years of fulltime study. The qualification is fully accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) and approved by the Ministry of Higher Education.
The DIA curriculum provides a strong foundation in general aspects of business and accounting, incorporating subjects like marketing, management, economics, law, business communication and entrepreneurship.
The course equips students with effective knowledge and skills to join the workforce or for further studies in the accounting field.
To be eligible to enrol for the DIA, students must have passed SPM, O levels, or Unified Examination Certificate with a minimum of three credits, including in Mathematics, as well as a pass in English.
The next DIA intake at Kolej Sunway Kuching is now in progress.
Orientation for new students is on April 4, while classes will commence on April 9.
