MCC 20th anniversar­y do at Sibu Gateway, July 14

SIBU: Sibu Methodist Care Centre (MCC) will be holding a celebratio­n at Sibu Gateway on July 14 to mark its 20th anniversar­y.

Organising chairperso­n Chew Siok Cheng said they are trying to trace about 500 families that MCC had served over the past 20 years.

“These 500 families from Sibu received our support and training with us for the past 20 years.

“Currently, we have about 190 families, so we have more than 300 families to contact and we hope that we can fi nd them,” she told a press conference on Thursday.

She said families may contact any of the followings: the centre on 084-219914, Chew on 016- 8700306, Wong Kee Wei on 019- 8593690 and Andy Wong on 012- 8939663.

She said 1,000 free T- shirts are available for the families.

“We are targeting 1,000 participan­ts. That is why we want the families to contact us and register with us. The registrati­on is free and they will each get a free T-shirt,” she said.

On the programme, she said it will start at 5pm with warming up exercise, followed by a 1.2km fun walk, performanc­es, parents’ testimonie­s and so on. Public members are also welcome.

Chew said they hope to create awareness on Special Needs Children and to promote their centre through the celebratio­n.

Also present at the press conference were board chairman Kapitan Wong Hie Ching, chairman of Sibu Methodist Centre Soon Kong Tiong, centre supervisor Wong Kee Wei and Parent Support Group chairman Andy Wong.
