PSK bag double titles in handball c’ships
KUCHING: Projek Sri Kenyalang ( PSK) of Sarawak emerged champions in the 13th Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg Chief Minister’s Cup and the 8th Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi Cup Handball Championships at the State Indoor Stadium, Petra Jaya on Thursday.
In the men’s category, PSK edged Selangor 13-12 for the Chief Minister’s Cup title.
Finishing in third and fourth place were Matang Galaxy and FAM Union.
PSK claimed a double victory when its women’s team beat GMysh 6- 3 to lift the Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi Cup.
Majetic HT and UiTM were third and fourth respectively.
The ch ampions o f b oth competitions received RM1,500, challenge trophy and medals while the first runners up received RM1,000, trophy and medals.
Second runners- up received RM700 and medals while the fourth-placed teams RM500 and medals.
Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, who represented Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg, gave away the prizes.
Also present were Assistant Minister of Youth and Sports Datuk Snowdan Lawan, Assistant Minister of Uti lities ( Rural Electricity) Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi who is also advisor of Sarawak Handball Association ( SAHA), Malaysian Handball Federation ( MAHF) president Yang Amat Mul i a Tengku Masera Zahira Iskandariah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar, Sarawak Sports Corporation CEO Dr Ong Kong Swee and SAHA president Norani Drahman.
A total of 32 teams took part in the championships held from March 19 to 22.
