First-ever BMW X2 model to hit Sarawakian roads
KUCHING: The newest member of the BMW X family – BMW X2 – is set to hit Sarawak’s roads as Regas Premium Auto Sdn Bhd introduces the new premium compact vehicle into their growing portfolio of Sports Activity Coupes today.
Introduced in the BMW X2 sDrive20i Sport variant, the bold and uncompromising nature of the brand new vehicle is evident at first sight and stands out from the crowd in any setting by pure virtue of the car’s exterior design.
The model essentially combines the fast-moving body language and low- slung proportions of a coupe with the robust construction of a BMW X model.
“On the road, it is evident that the BMW X2 model has the poise of an athlete in peak condition,” said Regas in a statement.
Josephine Tay, head of sales at Regas’ Kuching branch explained that the unique new exterior design has been created for a new type of BMW driver, a younger, a bolder and a more daring premium driver.
“The BMW X2 is very different from old BMW cars because they were designed for a younger, bolder and more daring driver, and that is why it also offers new and bold external colours like galvanic gold, misano blue, sunset orange and black sapphire. Besides being a bold new design, the new model is also extremely exclusive as there is only a very limited quantity of them available.
“So if you were to drive this in Sarawak, most likely you’ll be one of the only drivers on the road.” Due to the extreme exclusivity of the car, Regas is inviting the public to come and visit their showrooms this weekend ( March 24 and 25) for a special preview of the BMW X2 before existing units are sold to their respective buyers.
“We really encourage the public to visit us and view the new model because after this weekend, the existing units will be handed off to their owners and it is unlikely that any more units will return to our showrooms anytime soon.
“And while you’re here you can also take the chance to view or test drive our other BMW models like the BMW X5, 5 series and the plugin hybrid,” said Tay.
Powered by the multiple award winning two litre BMW TwinPower Turbo 4- cylinder petrol engine which combines twin- scroll turbocharger with Valvetronic, double VANOS and High precision Injection, the BMW X2 can generate up to top speeds of 227km per hour and boasts and overall system output of 192hp and 290Nm of torque.
It sprints from a 0-100km over hour in just under 7.7 seconds and its driving responses can be adapted with push of the Driving Experience Control switch, which allows drivers to choose between Comfort mode, efficiency- enhancing Eco pro mode or Sport mode.
It is also equipped with a 7-speed steptronic sport double- clutch transmission and a performance control that allows engine control and brake intervention during cornering.
The retail price for the first- ever BMW X2 sDrive 20i M Sport with BMW Group Malaysia’s latest five year unlimited mileage warranty, free schedule services programme and BMW Tyre Warranty programme is RM323,864.40 or an estimated RM3,708 per month with BMW financing solutions.
