SIBU: Difficulties and any lack facing the people in Lanang parliamentary constituency will be resolved if the seat is won by a Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate in the coming 14th general election.

This assurance was given by the president of Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian when declaring open ‘Pesta Rakyat 2018’ at Durin bazaar, some 40 km away from here on Friday night.

“I am confident all will be solved and will show to you that the problems shall be overcomed on condition BN wins the seat. What is important now is we must work hard to wrest the seat back from the opposition,” he said.

The event which runs from March 22 to 25 was organised by Sibu Rural District Council (SRDC). Also present were Sibu Division Resident Charles Siaw, chairman of SRDC Sempurai Petrus Ngelai, deputy chairman of SRDC Robert Lau, deputy chairman of SUPP Dudong branch Kelvin Kong and organsing chairman Cr Teo Boon Siew.

To get back the seat, Dr Sim who is also Minister of Local Government and Housing urged all Chinese voters to support BN especially for Lanang parliamentary seat in GE14.

“Chinese and bumiputra votes are important for our mission to get the seat back. We must be united in our cause for the comfort and prosperity of the people in this parliamentary area,” the Batu Kawah assemblyman said.

Dr Sim also described GE14 as crucial because it would determine the state’s claim of autonomous power from the federal government.

He later announced a grant of RM10,000 for the next festival.
