MIRI: The Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU) of the Federal Development Office in Kuching has approved a proposal to construct recreational facilities in Taman Tunku Community Park here.

Member of Parliament for Sibuti Datuk Ahmad Lai announced this during a gotong royong activity organised by the resident committee (RC) for Zone 1 of Taman Tunku and Lambir at Taman Tunku yesterday.

The work party was organised in collaboration with the Sibuti Parliament Service Centre.

During the event, Ahmad Lai agreed to finance the new recreational park project for Taman Tunku at a cost of RM350,000 under the Sibuti Parliament People Friendly Project.

Thus, he wanted the Miri City Council (MCC) as the project implementer to speed up the process of constructing the new recreational park project.

He hoped the recreational park would serve its purpose to encourage people to involve in healthy activities.

Meanwhile, among the activities conducted during the work party were tree planting, repainting the tables and chairs in the park and cleaning the area of rubbish.

In addition to that, the RC Zone 1 also opened a registration counter to register new members.

Among those present were MCC acting secretary Morshidi Fredrick, chairman of RC Zone 1 Cr Abdullah Jaini, RC Zone 1 co-chairman Cr Keith Chin and others.
