‘Vote for one who acts justly, loves mercy and walks humbly with God’
SIBU: President of Sarawak Chinese Annual Conference Rev Dr Tie King Tai posted a message on YouTube calling on Christians to vote for the candidate “who acts justly, loves mercy and walks humbly with God” in the coming 14th General Election.
His 3.53-minute-video posted on March 21 received nearly 19,000 views - the number still rising.
The Methodist pastor appealed: “Please use your sacred vote; your clean vote; your classified vote, your crucial vote (to vote) for the one who acts justly, loves mercy and walks humbly with God.”
He said he knew of friends who voted for money, and others who voted based on their decisions.
“A sacred vote is a clean vote; not influenced by sins. If your vote is bribed, your vote is a dirty vote. It is an unclean vote.”
He called for sacred voting, saying “a sacred vote is not only clean, it is a classified vote, a secret vote; it is not influenced by others; it is solely by your own decision”.
Others would not need to know who you vote for.
“So, it is a classified vote, and the sacred vote is also a crucial vote; it is held accountable to God because the elected can be called God’s servant.”
Tie said as for him, he has to pray and ask for the Holy Spirit’s guidance and follow the words of the Bible.
“As the Bible says, He has shown you, O mortal, what is good and what the Lord has required of you to act justly, live showing mercy, and work humbly with our God.”
