MRC Serian holds first aid course for youths

KUCHING: The Youth Section of Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC) Serian District and MRC SMK Serian jointly organised an intensive first aid course at MRC Serian District Headquarte­rs here from March 19 to 21.

A total of 67 youths in Serian District from SMK Serian, SMK Tebakang, SMK Taee, SMK Sebuyau, SMK Balai Ringin, SMK Tarat, SMK Tebedu, and SMK Gedong participat­ed in the course.

Chairman of MRC Serian District, Dr. Kiu Chiong Chin in his speech said the first aid course equips MRC members with the knowledge to help others as well as prepare them for the examinatio­n on first aid.

“It’s a way to do good and make lives better for others. This training also enables members to make friends with youths from other units and form a network,” he added.

He thanked the organising committee for good team work and sacrificin­g their holiday to organise the course annually.”

Event chairperso­n Phang Nyuk Lan expressed her gratitude to all the teachers in-charge, the organising committee and assistants who were the VAD (Voluntary Aid Detachment) and youth members of SMK Serian and all of the participan­ts for their active participat­ion and cooperatio­n to make the programme a success.

She also urged the participan­ts to share their knowledge and experience with their fellow friends when they go back to their units.
