PBB Youth ready to do battle

-

KUCHING: The Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu ( PBB) Youth wing is prepared for the battle of the upcoming parliamentary election.

PBB Youth deputy chief Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman said the wing has already activated its operations room.

“We’ve had a meeting and we received orders from the PBB headquarters to activate it. We will then get the sub-branches to do the same. Even the Women’s wing is already on the move with their own election strategy,” he said after handing over annual school grants at SMK Petra Jaya recently.

He said Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg, who is PBB president, will launch the youth movement’s state-level election machinery today.

“Once it ( parliament) is dissolved, we are ready to face the election and help to ensure a big win for BN ( Barisan Nasional),” said Fazzrudin.

For the Petra Jaya parliamentary seat, the Tupong assemblyman said during the last election, the turnout was 73 per cent of the 20,000 registered voters. The number of registered voters for the constituency has since increased to 23,000.

“We are confident with the service done by our MP Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusuf, and Tupong can give a big win for Petra Jaya,” said Fazzrudin,

On issues in the area, he said development is an ongoing issue that would be resolved one by one, while other issues such as flash floods and traffic jams would be resolved in stages.

He pointed out that construction on the Abang Kipali underpass is almost completed and this would resolve traffic woes in the area.

Fazzrudin earlier urged the government to re- examine the list of schools in the state needing repairs as schools in the Tupong area also require upgrading. He presented grants totalling RM193,000 to 15 primary schools and 10 secondary schools.
