BDA opens entry for Bintulu Run 2018, scheduled for July 22

BINTULU: Entries are now open for the Bintulu Run 2018, to kick off at Wisma Bintulu this July 22.

The event, hosted by Bintulu Developmen­t Authority ( BDA) with technical support from DNA Sports, will comprise three categories – 21km, 10km and 5km.

Flag- off times are 5.15am for the 21km run, 6am for the 10km, and 6.30am for the 5km run.

The early bird’s fees are RM80 per entry for the 21km run, RM70 (10km) and RM50 ( 5km).

The normal rates per entry are RM90 (21km), RM80 (10km), and RM60 ( 5km); while for the late registrati­ons, the fees per entry are RM100 (21km), RM90 (10km), and RM70 ( 5km).

Every runner who complete the route will receive a finisher’s medal. Cash prizes await the top 10 contestant­s of the 21km and 10km categories.

The closing dates are April 30 for early bird’s registrati­on and May 31 for normal registrati­on. June 20 is the deadline for late registrati­ons.

On July 22, the organiser will hold a ‘Family Run’ and ‘plogging’ ( picking up litter as one jogs) – scheduled for fl ag- off at 4.30pm, also at Wisma Bintulu. The fee for the ‘ Family Run’ is RM40 per entry.

According to BDA, the key objective of Bintulu Run 2018 is to celebrate Sarawak Day and also BDA’s 40th anniversar­y.

“It also promotes healthy lifestyle among the Bintulu folk, encourages the holding of more sports events here which can promote sports tourism, as well as advocates the townsfolk to uphold cleanlines­s through ‘plogging’,” it said in a statement yesterday.
