NTP hailed as catalyst of Sarawak’s rural, coastal devt

-

KOTA SAMARAHAN: Minister in Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri expresses her appreciation and gratitude for the setting up of the National Transformation Programme ( NTP), which has brought development to the rural and coastal areas of the state.

She points out the Batang Sadong bridge as a project that has helped open up many opportunities to the people in Batang Sadong, where she is the parliamentarian.

“We, the government, have launched many programmes for the people, especially those living in the rural and coastal areas – among them are training assistance and provision of public infrastructure.

“In this regard, I hope that you ( Batang Sadong constituents) would not forget what the government has done for you,” she spoke at ‘Jualan Sentuhan Rakyat 2018’ programme for Batang Sadong, here on Sunday.

On ‘Jualan Sentuhan Rakyat’ – a special sale programme run on parliamentary constituency level, Nancy hoped that it would be run more often, provided that the people would give a big mandate to Barisan Nasional ( BN) in the upcoming 14th general election (GE14).

She pointed out that this sale programme was very special in that it was selling daily food and household items at much cheaper prices – from 10 per cent down to 30 per cent less – than those sold elsewhere.

“Through this programme, I hope it would help dispel the accusation about the government having done nothing to help the people, especially those living in the rural and coastal areas.

“This programme is one of the ways that we help the people,” she said.

The ‘Jualan Sentuhan Rakyat’ programme was run by the Ministry of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism.
