Govt wants to ensure people have own homes

SADONG JAYA: The state government is committed to ensuring that people in the state are able to own a comfortabl­e home in a well-planned area.

As such, the state government has approved an allocation of RM174.8 million for 35 village expansion schemes and village resettleme­nt schemes in Sarawak, said Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan.

He mentioned this at a press conference after performing the earth breaking ceremony for the Kampung Sadong Jaya expansion project yesterday, one of the projects carried out by the state government to provide housing lots to those living in the rural areas.

He added that the project costs RM8.71 million and will provide 290 lots to the villagers for them to build their own homes, and in future, the scheme will have a surau and a cottage industry centre.

He further said that under the 11th Malaysia Plan, Samarahan Division had been allocated RM41.36 million to carry out projects under the resettleme­nt scheme.

On another note, he called on the people to continue giving their support to the present government to ensure projects are carried out smoothly in their areas.

Also speaking at the event was Sadong Jaya assemblyma­n Aidel Lariwoo, who thanked the state government for providing the villagers a chance to own a lot for them to build their houses.

“This has been the dream of the villagers, which is to have their own lot and a home,” he added.

Also present at the event were Assistant Minister of Coastal Road Datuk Julaihi Narawi, Stakan assemblyma­n Dato Sri Ali Mahmud, Simunjan assemblyma­n Awla Dris and Land and Survey Department deputy director Abdullah Julaihi.
