-

MIRI: The Youth Section of Miri ChineseChamberofCommerceand Industry (MCCCI) will collaborate with iPay88 in conducting a talk on the electronic payment system ( EPS).

According to MCCCI Youth chief Chia Kah Wai, the session is an opportunity for the local business community to know more about the e-system, which is in line with the state government’s vision of digital economy.

A representative from iPay88 will host the talk, set to take place at the meeting room of MCCCI building at Chinatown Jalan Raja here this April 13, scheduled to commence at 7pm.

The session will be conducted in Mandarin.

“Since its entry to Malaysia in 2017, cashless systems such as WeChat Pay have been widely used by shoppers via online. To capture the Chinese tourists, it is very important to upgrade local businesses into those that run a cashless system. This can boost the local economy,” he said in a press statement.

He pointed out that the cashless system is being practised widely across China – it is already a norm there to see street hawkers accepting payments via mobile phones.

“Such phenomena are happening so quickly that the only way is for us to seize the opportunity and upgrade ourselves,” he stressed.

The iPay88 is a major payment gateway provider in South East Asia. The online platform provides innovative solutions to manage online payments.

Back on the April 13 talk, Chia said a booth would be set up and manned to provide information and related services to local business operators who are interested to register for EPS.

Admission to the talk is free, but registration is still required due to limited seats available.
