Opposition leaders’ differing opinions on redelineation show they cannot make up minds

-

KOTA KINABALU: The fact that the opposition leaders from Sabah and Peninsular Malaysia have differing opinions on the the recent redelineation exercise just goes to to show that they are unable to ‘make up their minds’.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Dahlan made the statement on his official Twitter account with regard to the Election Commission’s ( EC) redelineation report tabled in Parliament on Wednesday.

“Political parties must appeal to constituents, not constituencies. It does not matter where the constituency’s border is. If the constituents like what they hear from a particular party, that party will win that constituency,” the Kota Belud member of parliament (MP) tweeted.

“On one hand peninsula opposition MPs claim that redelineation exercise is a farce. On the other hand, their friends in Sabah, the opposition MPs are upset that Sabah is not included in the redelineation exercise. The opposition can’t even make up their mind,” he further stressed.

As reported, Sabah is now likely to only contest 60 state seats during the upcoming 14th General Elections (GE14) as the redelineation report did not include any recommendations for electoral boundary changes in the state.

“To prove that not all constituencies are equal in terms of terrain and population distribution, let’s see if Kit Siang ( Gelang Patah MP) can last a month being a YB in Kinabatangan. Confirm pengsan! (will pass out for sure),” he quipped.

His tweet had also received a reply from Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation Datuk Seri Panglima Wilfred Madius Tangau, who agreed with the former’s statement.
