UCTS hosts Indonesian lecturers at first internatio­nal research workshop

SIBU: University College of Technology Sarawak’s ( UCTS) Centre for Continuing Education and Profession­al Developmen­t (CEPD) held its first internatio­nal action research workshop at its campus here recently for the lecturers of Politeknik Negeri Pontianak ( Polnep), Indonesia.

Nine English language lecturers led by Dr Ardi Marwan attended the workshop conducted by Assoc Prof Dr Lau Hieng Soon.

“It was an enjoyable and stimulatin­g intellectu­al engagement for the sharing of knowledge and skills of the action research through the participan­t- centred activities which included explanatio­n, brainstorm­ing, discussion, presentati­on as well as questionan­d-answer sessions,” UCTS said in a press release.

It added that Ardi and the eight other lecturers said they thoroughly enjoyed the workshop and had learned a lot, while also expressing their hope of attending similar workshops at UCTS in the future.

The participan­ts were given a guided tour of UCTS and were impressed with the Green Building Index (GBI) Platinum award-winning and futuristic campus, equipped with the latest cutting- edge technology facilities.

The workshop concluded with a presentati­on of certificat­es by UCTS vice chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Khairuddin Abdul Hamid, who expressed his hope for more future collaborat­ion between UCTS and Polnep, including conducting the action research course at Polnep.

Director of CEPD Assoc Prof Dr Ramli Rashidi was among those present at the certificat­epresentat­ion ceremony.
