‘Green Man’ to speak on Green Living and Working

KUCHING: German environmen­talist Matthias Gelber or ‘Green Man’ will hold the two-day Green Man Master on Green Living and Working workshop.

Organised by UCSI Extension in collaborat­ion with the Natural Resources and Environmen­tal Board ( NREB), the workshop will be held at UCSI Hotel Kuching from 9am- 5pm on Tuesday and Wednesday (April 3- 4).

“The topics to be discussed during the workshop among others includes ‘Why Green Living?’, ‘Cost Effective Waste Management’, ‘Saving Money with Energy Efficiency’, ‘Healthy Green Workplace’ and much more,” UCSI Hotel Kuching event manager Alexis Elvina Langgie told The Borneo Post yesterday.

The RM400 workshop fee, including meals, is claimable under the Human Resources Developmen­t Fund ( HRDF) programme.

Gelber comes from Burbach-Lippe, a small German village surrounded by forests.

“He developed a strong connection with nature from a young age, and has been a passionate advocate of green living ever since,” said Alexis.

In 2008, Gelber was voted ‘Greenest Person on the Planet’ by 3rdWhale in Canada.

“Gelber is also the founder of Eco Warriors Malaysia and Negawatt Revolution and his expertise in environmen­tal science brought him to give talks in more than 40 countries. He is also a motivation­al trainer and consultant for various organisati­ons, recently to the Asian Developmen­t Bank,” added Alexis.
