KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has outlined three benefits that would be enjoyed by about 1,230 owners of the Kepong Metropolitan Perumahan Penjawat Awam 1Malaysia ( PPA1M), or 1Malaysia Civil Servants Housing Project, who received their house-keys yesterday.

The Prime Minister said the first benefit was that they had the opportunity to own their dream home, secondly, they would have a comfortable housing area equipped with various facilities, and thirdly, they would have an asset whose price would rise continuously.

Speaking after officiating the handing over of Kepong Metropolitan PPA1M house keys, here yesterday, Najib said the project was completed within a period of 22 months without compromise on the quality of the homes.

Also present were Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor and Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Dr Ali Hamsa.

Najib said: “This is the government’s efforts for the civil servants and the people because the government always placed the interests of the people above others.

Kepong Metropolitan PPA1M project which was launched by the Prime Minister in 2016 was developed by JL99 Holdings Sdn Bhd on 3 hectares of land adjacent to the MRR2 Highway to assist civil servants in owning homes cheaper than the market price.

The homes offered were 850 square feet (kps), 1,000 sq ft, 1,200 sq ft and 1,500 sq ft at the selling prices of RM90,000, RM150,000, RM240,000 and RM300,000.

The houses involving 1,230 units of condominiums with three or four rooms were equipped with various facilities such as retail shops, laundry shops, children playgrounds, multipurpose hall and clinic.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister said so far, 35,752 units of PPA1M homes had been completed or in the implementation stage, while another 106,000 units were being planned.

He said the government had set a target of building 200,000 units of PPA1M homes which were expected to be ready within the next few years.

“For each PPA1M unit, the government provides a rather substantial subsidy for the area or certain projects,” he added. — Bernama
